4th CHINNA SHODHA YATRA

CHINTUR TO MOTUGUDEM 15-17 JUNE 2012

MY EXPERIENCE DURING CSY-4

The day I was told about CSY-4, I was very excited. I was looking to a great experience. And yes! it turned out to be so.

The yatra was supposed to begin at"Chintur". I was accompanied by my cousins. On June 14, we started our journey towards chintur. On the way, we also visited the famous temple of Lord Rama in Badrachalam. Finally, we reached our destination, "Chintur".

DAY-1:
The yatra had begun (on foot). We came across a school and spent some time in its premises. Breg. Ganesham garu (retd) interacted with the students and grasped their capabilities. One of the students named "Abbas" came up with the brilliant idea of making a pencil with the match sticks and a piece of coal. I was awed by the innovation the villagers there came up with. We had a satisfying lunch and continued our "yatra". We reached a village named "Pothanapalli". Next, we visited "ANGAN WAADI BADI BAATA". All the "yatris" interacted with the students and the native people of that place. Their idea of lifestyle and thoughts left us dumbstruck. A girl, "Rukmini" thanked all the "yatris" for informing them about the innovation "POT SUPPORTER", which would be of great help for women who carry water pots on their heads. An elderly woman, "Doolamma" shared her knowledge about a healthy diet for pregnant women.

At last, it was night. We all slept in a school that night in "Tulasipaka".

DAY-2:
We woke up at dawn and had a refreshing bath on the waters of River Godavari. We continued with our yatra. We were bound towards "Mothugudem". We happened to meet a boy named "Muthu" who expressed his desire to become an engineer. His aspirations left us wonder-struck and all of us appreciated "Muthu". We distributed various bio-fertilizers and organic material to the farmers, so that the yield would improve. We had an adventurous walk in the forests. We came across hunters who were very skilled at using their weapons. Finally, we reached "Mothugudem". We found ourselves a place to take rest and had a delicious meal. Later Ganesham garu shared his experience in serving Indian Army and left us all mesmerized.....

DAY-3:
On DAY-3 we spent time listening about the livelyhood and occupation of the "Asu-family" (weavers) and other innovations told by Ganesham garu. We walked in the forest area of "Mothugudem" and visited a beautiful and quintessential waterfall. There we enjoyed ourselves at the waterfalls. With this, "yatra" concluded.

We sat together and discussed about the things we learnt during the course of the "yatra". This was the most informative and thought provoking group discussion I have ever took part.

MY FEED BACK:
This is the most informative "yatra" I've ever been to. I was inspired by the rural people of the villages. This "yatra" enlightened me about the fact that rural populations are far more advanced in their lifestyle than the urban population. They manage their resources far better than us. We have a lot to learn from them. I think i'am very lucky for having gotten a chance to explore the hidden talent of the rural and remote in-habitations.

I thank Mr. Ganesham garu for letting me be a part of this wonderful experience. I also thank all the "fellow yatris" for maintaining a friendly relation.

At the same time I offer my sincere apology as I submitted my feed back late.

Regards,
Akhila.
